Ingredients
  • Bread slices (8)
  • Potatoes boiled, mashed (2)
  • Salt (as per the taste)
  • Green chilli chopped (1)
  • Coriander powder (1/4 tsp)
  • Red chilli powder (1/4 tsp)
  • Cumin powder roasted (jeera) (1/2 tsp)
  • Fortune Besan (1 1/2 cup)
  • Salt (as per the taste)
  • Cooking soda (a pinch)
  • Red chilli powder (1/4 tsp)
  • Garam masala (1/8 tsp)
  • Fortune Oil (for deep-frying)
  • Tamarind condiment (imli chutney) ( as required)
Method
  • Let’s first make the stuffing. For the same, mix together mashed potatoes, green chilli, dhaniya powder, salt, red chilli powder and jeera powder in a bowl. Divide the mix into four equal portions.
  • Now for the batter, blend together besan, salt, cooking soda, garam masala, red chilli powder and amchur. Add in water, little by little to make a thick batter.
  • Next, spread about a spoonful of potato stuffing on 4 bread slices, cover them with the remaining slices and press to seal. Cut the 4 whole bread pieces into two.
  • Heat oil in a deep kadhai, dip the pakodas in the batter and gently add to the hot oil.
  • Deep fry until the pakodas are golden brown on both sides. Remove and drain on a paper towel.
  • Serve the chatpata pakodas, hot with tamarind chutney.
